The Read - LIVE! From The Grand Manor

I know it's been a while since my last update, (like a yesterday), but I've got a few tasty RONS for you this week, continuing with a live set from The Read.

The Read is.....an entity. I really can't say much else about them, but I'm putting this up here also as anticipation for their new hats, which will be released hopefully either later on this year or early next year.

This set is from a show in Chicago at The Grand Manor, and it was quite the show if I do say so myself. NOTE: This was from the summer tour in which The Read played as a three piece with all of their mEmBeRs. Miss these boys a lot.

Also, there are a few songs that they've recorded RON. which I think I neater than skeet.

Till Plains Live Set!

I know it's been a while since my last update, (like a week), but I've got a few tasty nuggets for you this week, starting with a live set from Till Plains.

Till Plains is.....an entity. I really can't say much else about them, but I'm putting this up here also as anticipation for their upcoming EP, Nails Mountain, which will be released hopefully either later on this year or early next year.

This set is from a show in Chicago at The Grand Manor, and it was quite the show if I do say so myself. NOTE: This was from the summer tour in which Till Plains played as a three piece with Peyton on guitar, Casey on drums, and Erik on bass. Miss these boys a lot.

Also, there are a few live videos of them up on their myspace, which I think I neater than skeet.

3.5 out of 5 RONS.

Corn Cat - TV Dreams

Oh, how great Weezer is. Having recently, and in the past, mulled over how great that particular band and there entire being is, I can definitely say that a lot of that mulling was done with Jantiss Rigponch, otherwise known as Max Frecka or Corn Cat.

Today we've got an entire free album download courtesy of Corn Cat himself, entitled TV DREAMS.

This album is a serious grab bag of all things really fantastic. Maybe it just hit me at the right time, but it's very good. In a nutshell there are so many different bleeps, bloops, and samples going on at all times that it's really hard to focus on just one thing and very easy to get lost in the music and zone out.

TV DREAMS has everything from odd, dollar-vinyl-bin samples to carefully crafted electronica to nonsensical hiphop poetry slam to spazzy breakbeat freakouts. It really just has it all. Under any normal circumstance I probably would have a lot of trouble sitting down and really digging into a record like this but for whatever reason, (possibly being serious bouts of melody and melodic sensibility throughout the entire record), it just makes sense.

Of course, as with any other record there are tracks that stand out more than others. My personal favorites are... "Crooked" "Catnap" "I Love You" and "Cashflow".

So, check it out, whether you think you're gonna like it or not because chances are, if you exist, there's probably something for you on this album. Thanks to Corn Cat for his generosity.

AHA! (MUSTACHIO ALERT!)

As this semester gets underway, I've had a little less time than I anticipated to do RMSS, which is OK. I will slowly get back to updating everyday with as much as I can. Later today we will have some incredible new music from Corn Cat, whose work just continues to progress.

In the meantime though...MUSTACHIO ALERT! Apparently this is the world's largest....I don't know if I believe the hype.

RADIO LISTENIN ALERT!

So this isn't something I normally do here at RMSS, but two of my favorite people, Helen Van and Kit Canlas are taking over half of a radio show here on local Nashville radio tomorrow night. SO, here's the info::

The show:: Nerd Prom
The time:: 10PM - 11PM
The station:: 91.1 WRVU Nashville
The hosts:: Helen Van & Kit Canlas

The station is only available in Nashville so if you live here then this is for you! If not, go....do something or something.

Both of these girls are working on some fantastic projects with their respective bands that I should hope they will let me post when they're complete.
